The vigorous, continual planting of new congregations is the single most crucial strategy for 1) the numerical growth of the Body of Christ in any city, and 2) the continual corporate renewal and revival of the existing churches in a city. Nothing else – not crusades, outreach programs, para-church ministries, growing mega-churches, congregational consulting, nor church renewal processes – will have the consistent impact of dynamic, extensive church planting.
I believe if we are going to serve the Lord faithfully according to Romans 12, this means us individuals serving the Lord, and as a church body serving the Lord, but also as a church family helping other churches serve the Lord.
The needs are great. Reaching the diverse population in the D.C. area requires overcoming barriers of affluence and poverty, language and culture, and the darkness of spiritual liberalism and indifference.
Pray for evangelistic Christians to seek jobs in D.C., and dedicate themselves to ministry in politics and the marketplace.
